Wedding/Vacation/Etc

A personal note this time. I will be away from campus until November 2, 2005. During this time, I will be packing, moving, getting married to my best friend Gwendolyn, and taking a vacation to the Hawaiian Islands. Please remember us in your prayers as we celebrate our love for and committment to each other.

Back in California

I am back in the Bay Area now and it is Fleet Week in San Francisco. The Blue Angels and lots of ships, planes, and helicopters are filling the water in and the air above San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. There's a pretty good shot of a jet above the Golden Gate Bridge.

The Meetings in Gettysburg were great! It is good for the Admissions Directors to gather once a year and talk about ways we can improve our collaboration so that you, the students, are better served by the Seminary System.

This week I am in the final (2 weeks) countdown toward my wedding! So, I'll be taking some time off of work and off of the Blog! But, check back in a few weeks for updates!

Admissions Directors' Annual Meeting, Update

We just finished the Annual Meeting of the ELCA Seminary Admissions Directors. The location of the meeting rotates from seminary to seminary and this year it is being held at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, in Gettysburg, PA of all things. Whose claim to fame, by the way, is that more people have died on the campus of this seminary then any other ELCA seminary (probably ANY seminary for that matter, let’s hope). For those of you who are a little concerned at the moment and have just temporary forgotten your American history, a major Civil War battle (more men died here than in any other battle fought in North America) was fought in Gettysburg (July 1-3, 1863) and the seminary sits on a portion of that field. Anyway, we finished the meeting and tonight we had dinner with 10 wonderful students from Susquehanna University who are considering their vocations to various things.

Admissions Directors' Annual Meeting

This week, I am on the campus of our sister Seminary in Gettysburg, PA. The Admissions Directors and staff of all 8 ELCA seminaries work together during the year to effectively present the options of the Seminary system to interested persons. Once a year we gather on one campus for our business meeting. Check back later in the week for more pictures!
